ABOUT US

Welcome to Abstract Dance Challenge (formerly Abstract Movement Festivals), founded in 2021 by Erin Kerr-Trethart and Mackenzie Hollinger from Calgary, Alberta!

As seasoned dance teachers, they bring a fresh perspective to the competition world, having taught students of all levels and abilities, and wanting each one of their students to succeed during the competition season. Their passion for dance and their commitment to fostering a supportive community led them to create Abstract Movement Festivals, now Abstract Dance Challenge, a place that celebrates the diversity and talent of all dancers.

Join them on their journey to celebrate each dancer for everything that they are!

We create a fun and exciting atmosphere at each of our events from start to finish for studio owners, dancers, teachers and audience members.

We are organized. Our schedules are created early and we strive to provide you with all the information you need in a timely manner. We are always looking for ways to improve and provide even better service to our studios.

In addition to high score awards, we offer an abundance of fun prizes and scholarships that celebrate accomplishments and values that are not score related.

We offer a ton of trophies, awards, and scholarships throughout our events. Our judges give out multiple special awards at each adjudication and we have draws for dancers to win great prizes during our events.

As dance teachers and studio owners ourselves, we know the importance of having adjudicators who teach dance to students of all ages and levels. We ensure that each one of our adjudicators has an extensive teaching background and understands all of the hard work that went in to getting each dancer on stage.

We choose professional venues to run our events from to ensure studio owners, dancer, teachers, parents, and all spectators have a great experience.

Our Mission: To celebrate dancers for everything they are!
